About the Beaver Dam Hockey Association

The Beaver Dam Family Center is home to the Beaver Dam Hockey Association (BDHA) and Swan City Ice Skaters (SCIS), both of which are committed to promoting positive youth development through a wide variety of ice skating activities. Our organizations consistently serve hundreds of youth annually, while a multitude of community members enjoy our weekly public open skates, seasonal high school hockey programs, tournaments and shows, learn to skate programs, and much more. We encourage schools and community organizations to utilize our facility for field trips and outings. Events held at our facility help support the local economy as throngs of visitors attend games, tournaments, competitions, and performances

The Family Center is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization operated by the dedication, hard work, and commitment of families participating in the programs. A paid Facilities Director supports operations, and both the BDHA and SCIS are served by a Board of Directors to ensure proper governance and representation. As a non-profit, the financial health of our organization is dependent on income generated from registration and tournament fees, special events, performances, competitions, sponsorship, and fund raising initiatives.

This history of our facility is worth mentioning. Completed more than 35 years ago, the facility was built by a group of community residents who embarked on a major capital fundraising campaign and took out second mortgages on their homes to provide needed finances to erect the building and institutionalize youth skating programs in our community. It is exciting to realize that their legacy lives on and dreams continue to be realized. Come join us at the Family Center! Learn to skate - it's great!
