BDSHA Summer 2020 Programs


To ensure the safety of our participants during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as their families and the community, the Beaver Dam Family Center has set forth the Phase 1 Reopening Policy included in the link below.  Please download and read the policy, as all participants are required to adhere to this plan when attending summer programs. BDHA Summer Hockey Programs - Keep the Game Going!

  • Small Area Games: Small-area games focus on multiple skills and situations, increasing puck touches and situational repetition. Within every small-area game, players are placed in tight situations and have more attempts on net than in traditional drills all while competing and having fun. The program will be offered to U8-U14 levels once per week on alternating days (Tuesdays at 5:40 pm & Saturdays at 10:45 am) for each age group (8U/10U & 12U/14U) for 8 weeks starting June 16.  Fee of $75. 
  • Hound Dogs Summer Teams: For birth years 2006/2007 and 2010/2011, each team will be offered weekly on-ice practices on Thursdays  from June 18-August 6. Practice sessions run 6-6:45 pm for 10/11 and 7:10-7:55 pm for 06/07. The home tournament is slated for August 7-9. Fee of $325 for 2010/2011 and $375 for 2006/2007. 
  • Goalie Clinic for ages U8-U18: Offered Saturday mornings from 8-9 am for 6 weeks starting June 20; this clinic will advance both beginner and veteran goalies. Fee of $100. 
  • Cancelled Bud Simon's Impact Hockey Camp: This camp has been cancelled.
  • Brock Ballard Camp (Ages 8U-20U):  Brock Ballard is a skills consultant for the New York Rangers and skills coach for the Hartford Wolfpack. Brock has been a hockey instructor for more than 20 years teaching fundamentals in all aspects of hockey.  Specializing in the science of skating and skill development, Brock has taught over 900 camps worldwide including US, Canada and Germany. Brock has trained over 40,000 players, including NHL players, draft picks and top prospects from the Florida Panthers, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, Calgary Flames, New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks, Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild, Dallas Stars, Columbus Blue Jackets, Ottawa Senators and Phoenix Coyotes. He has also worked on occasion with members of the U.S. women's olympic gold medal team, NCAA college and Major Junior players. Brock is an expert in skating mechanics and has studied skating techniques with Olympic athletes and trainers with PhDs in biomechanics.  You cannot find an Instructor with more teaching experience, training and overall love and knowledge for the game of hockey anywhere in the world. Brock Ballard provides top-notch professional instruction in a friendly atmosphere and a genuine desire to improve every student. Through his expertise, experience, and commitment to see improvement Brock has established a friendship with his customers that will last a lifetime! This camp will be offered July 20-23, as listed below. Players will get 6 hours of on-ice training for a fee of $175.

    Monday/Wednesday time slots:
    -11:15-12:45 (8U-10U)
    -1:00 -2:30 (12U-14U)
    -2:45-4:15 (16U-20U)
    Tuesday/Thursday time slots:
    12:30-2:00 (8U-10U)
    2:15-3:45 (12U-14U)
    4:00-5:30 (16U-20U)

  • Girls Skills Camp with Kayla Murray: Led by Kayla Murray, this program will target Girls at the 10U-14U levels and  features edgework, stick handling, and lateral movement on Tuesdays (7-8 pm), and small area games and game situations on Saturdays (9:15-10:15 am).
